2 Corinthians Chapter 5 verse 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

As Christians we are all commissioned by our Lord to be His ambassadors for the purpose of communicating the good news of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. Further, we have a responsibility to spread the Gospel near and far.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth

We carry out our Lord’s commission by working to reach people in our own community and supporting many missionaries to many places near and far.

Perhaps one of the clearest passages on our commission is this:

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
